A living being by birth has a tendency to take a shelter or to put in other words we all have an affinity towards security. This very tendency can be seen in the new borns of any species right from humans to dogs and all others. However as we grow up the kind of security we search for changes, and this changeover is a very interesting process. During this change over we learn to be selfish, to forget those, whom we do not need presently, and the best part is that we are so overwhelmed of our material gains, that in the course of this process that we forget the ultimate source of all gains, The Almighty God.
During this course of time we get a lot of wordly benifits form different shelters and finally get complacent. However by the grace of Krishna, and only by the grace of Krishna, I keep myself unincluded from the group of the idiots for whom enjoying all kinds of wordly pleasures is the goal of life.Of course by that I donot at all mean that I am self realized or God realized , but yes I am one of those for whom the wordly materials are relished till the extent of their capability of helping the sustainance of life in a dignified way is concerned. Also I include myself amongst those conditioned souls who know that what condition is and their ultimate goal is to get liberated from this vicious cycle of birth an death and go back, back to Godhead.
We all know why a dog enjoys a bone, he bites the bone with full might and enjoys licking the blood that flows out if its own gums injured by the hard bone, thereby thinking that the blood comes from the bone. Just imagine that if a dog is educated that the blood does not come from the bone ! Then he immediately is raised tremendously above the position of a dog. He istantly may not become a human being however his knowledge can beat the excellence of millions of human brains. But yes, its next to impossible to teach a dog about all this, and similarly day by day its becoming more and more tedious to teach human beings about the need of going back, Back to Godhead.
I am happy that by the grace of Krishna I fall under the category of those dogs who are biting the bone for the sake of momentary sustainance but, with an awareness that blood doesn't come from the bone. As in the begining we were talking about shelters, in my life, again by the grace of Krishna only I realised the need for the absolute shelter quite early and almost started a search for it. Ofcourse I went to many temples and many religious organisations where at every step I got a lot of information about the non-importance of material world, but, didn't know that "what should I do now ?"
Then after many days of wandering from one place to other, I came accross Krishna Concoiusness and leanrned a way of life that was wonderful, disciplined, regulated, blissful, spiritual, completely dedicated to Krishna and of course very practical !
The Krishna Conciousness is not just a movement that teaches how a spiritual life should be, But a reopening of the teachings of krishna that has been passed on to us form time immemorial and has been revisited in this kali yuga (i.e. the age of quarrel) by Sri Sri Chaintanya Mahaprabhu, The devotee form of Sri Krishna, who appeared in Mayapur, West Bengal about 500 years ago. Today due the unconditional hardwork of His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Srila Prabhupada, the founder acharya of ISKCON (International society for Krishna Conciousness), we have got this invalueable treasure of Krishna Conciousness.
